Spells by the Lake

Charles listened to Alex say that they could go visit Diagon Alley. Xyris replied saying that it is a nice place to shop but is way too crowded.
Charles looked at Samantha as she said, "Uh..yeah! She's just uncomfortable holding snakes, always like that. Scared as a cat."
Charles watched her laugh. Did she know about the parseltongue thing? No, she can't. But Ravenclaws are very smart. He had always admired intellect, partly because he thought he was smart.

"Must be but Alexis is still nervous but there's no snake around. Hey...is there something i don't know? Maybe someone around is a Parseltongue. Is there?" Xyris asked. Charles was afraid that this was happening. He made up his mind.

"Uhh. I-I-I'm the parseltoungue." Charles said, nervously. "At first I thought I was speaking English to snakes, but I was hissing in front of others."
He lied to protect his friend. It was quite the stupid move but it's all he could think of. 'And I thought I was smart' He thought to himself sarcastically. He remembered things he read about the parseltoungues or parselmouths.
"It's usually a Slytherin trait but I-I-I somehow got it." Charles went on. He thought maybe adding a bit more would make it more real and hopefully Xyris was convinced.

He hoped they wouldn't ask him to speak in Parseltoungue, but Alex was a very good friend.

Alexis noticed that Samantha was talking like she knows something. All Alexis know is that Charles and Dana are the only ones who knew. Alexis gave a angry face at Samantha "Hey! That's rude!" Alexis said as she calmed down.
It seemed that Xyris was noticing her movements. "Uhh... Alexis was going to say something but suddenly Charles said something.
"Uhh. I-I-I'm the parseltoungue. At first I thought I was speaking English to snakes, but I was hissing in front of others.". Alexis was shocked. She would never thought that Charles would.

"Charles!" She whispered. "Look Xy, Charles isn't a Parseltongue. No one here is. None of us are Slytherins nor got it. Charles was just kidding. I-i-i promise!" Alexis said calmly as she took a deep breath and hid her left hand and crossed her finger. She was hoping Xy would believe, but she is a Ravenclaw so she could be smart to know. And plus she's a third year.

Alexis's eyebrows got downwards, like she was angry but she wasn't she was just hoping that Xy would fell for her trick, it goes for Samantha too.

Samantha rolled her eyes as Alexis called her rude. As if. Okay...maybe a little bit. She turned, the lake making an small appearance in the corner of her eyes before dissapearing. Raising her eyebrows at Charles statement. She knew Alexis was a parseltounge but was Charles? It was very likely he was lying...but was he telling the truth? She couldn't tell.....humpth. "It's a Slytherin trait but I somehow got it" He said. Really? She didn't know that, was it? It probably was...but Alexis was a Gyffindor, could she have just 'got it somehow'. Samantha was really confused.

Alexis tried to hide it. Her stuttering made it worse...like she was lying. She rolled her eyes. "Yeah..." Her voice was even. "None of us are Parseltounges and if one of us were, we wouldn't tell you. As if you could keep a secret. HA! But...none of us are...so you don't need to go snooping like we have something to hide when we don't."

Xyris was shocked, Hufflepuffs were too kind to get a Slytherin trait and Hufflepuffs are the opposite of Slytherins. Xyris was going to ask questions about it to Charles and wanted to see him talk to a snake, afterall Hufflepuffs never got it. And so does Gryffindors and Ravenclaws.

"Look Xy, Charles isn't a Parseltongue. No one here is. None of us are Slytherins nor got it. Charles was just kidding. I-i-i promise!" said Alexis. Xyris raised her eyebrows, she was going to have a good time but Alexis stopped her happy time. Xyris was going to believe but at the last part, Alexis got nervous and she hid her other hand.

"None of us are Parseltounges and if one of us were, we wouldn't tell you. As if you could keep a secret. HA! But...none of us are...so you don't need to go snooping like we have something to hide when we don't." said Samantha. Xyris took an angry deep breath, Samantha acted like a Slytherin. She is too offending, unlike Alexis and Charles.

Xyris didn't talk for a while, she raised an eyebrow and started thinking. 'How did this three became friends anyway?!?! Charles is a Gryffindor-like-Hufflepuff and Alexis is a Hufflepuff-like-Gryffindor and Samantha is a Slytherin-like-Ravenclaw. And i am soo older than her!' she thought. Xyris took a calm deep breath, "Ok i want the three of you to shut up for a while, Samantha don't say something mean yet. I already know what you're going to say. And i have the right to say that you three should shut up for a while cause i'm older.. No hard feelings... So... Charles said he was a parseltounge and Alexis and Samantha said he wasn't and no one was. I'll let this off the hook but if i figure out that one of you is a Parseltounge... I won't be sorry." Xyris explained nicely. Xyris was showing her bad side but nicely. She was wierd, yes but at least no one could get mad. Or maybe they would.

Charles watched as Alex's shocked expression appeared.
"Charles!" She whispered.
"Look Xy, Charles isn't a Parseltongue. No one here is. None of us are Slytherins nor got it. Charles was just kidding. I-i-i promise!"
Charles just looked at Alex and Xy's raised eyebrow. He thought that it was best to duck his head down slowly so he did so.
"None of us are Parseltounges and if one of us were, we wouldn't tell you. As if you could keep a secret. HA! But...none of us are...so you don't need to go snooping like we have something to hide when we don't." Samantha said.
'Wow' Charles thought. 'Samantha's either really helping us or really mean hehe.'

Because Charles couldn't see Xy's face he just assumed that she was angry. He heard her take a deep breath. She started telling them to shut up for a while and told Samantha to stop saying mean things. She said she had the right to tell them to shut up because she's older. Then she said she'll forget about the parseltoungue thing but if she finds out that anyone of them were parseltoungues, she won't be sorry.

'Why does she want us to shut up! Talk about mean things! Just because your older doesn't make you Queen! You know what? It's fine.' Charles thought madly. He pulled up his head and watched.
"What do you guys want to do?" He whispered over to the three next to him.

Alexis took a deep breath, it was relaxing that Xy didn't knew but what if she found out? What would she do to her? Alexis sighed at this, she didn't really wanted to cause this much trouble. Maybe she should have ended up in Slytherin. Alexis shook her head at this, if the sorting hat placed her here, then so be it!

Alexis walked a little father from the three and sat near the lake. "I don't know about the three of you but i am planning to visit Miss Dana Wrendale but... i guess i'm too lazy too... Also, i would prefer to go to the Forbidden Forest but of course, i've argued because of it and I know that Samantha and Xyris would go lecturing me about how young and small i am to go." she said as she sighed, looking at the lake without looking at the three cause she knows Samantha and Xy could get offended by this.

Samantha rolled her eyes at Xyris's little <i> lecture </i> about how much older she is than them. "If you're so much older, then why aren't you smarter than us? Ms. I can't figure out if someone's a parseltounge or not. Can you tell the difference between a toad and a frog? Just because you're older, doesn't mean you're any better" She retorted, fuming at Xyris. She listened to Charles whisper to them, not taking her eyes of Xyris. Alexis walked off. Her thoughts flitted to her for a second, where was she going. She was walking towards the lake, so its not like she was going back to the lake. "I don't know.....I'm not really fond of crowded places." She asked quietly, still watching the girl in front of her. Xyris's hair was almost the same color was hers, sort of. Samantha's but pitch black, and Xyris had some brown in hers.

Xyris rolled her eyes away from the two, obviously Samantha would fit in Slytherin for her and so for Charles? She's not that sure but she really was thankful that Charles wasn't in her house. Xyris took another angry deep breath, the other Ravenclaw was really getting her nerves off. "Well Miss first year Ravenclaw, First of all i am a transfer student from another wizarding school, Secondly when i was a first year they gave me permission to go to Hogsmade, Thirdly can you? I mean Parseltounges are very rare these days and of course they would go off and hide it! Well if you know a parseltounge, maybe that pareltounge isn't comfortabe with it so he or she could show it but if it was a sneeky one, can you? and yes i can tell the difference between then and come on! If i didn't said that you would say worst things besides, i told it politely i guess you didn't" she explained to Samantha as she took a deep breath.

Xyris also did what Alexis did but only farther than her but she didn't sat down. Xyris sighed, Alexis seemed to be upset about something, it was obvious that the three weren't the best of friends yet. Xyris grabbed her wand and pointed it out in the lake. "Avis!" she said as a pack of birds flew throught the lake but eventually came crashing to a tree. Xyris didn't know why she did that but it was impressive. Xyris took her wand again and pointed it out the water. "Orchideous!" she whispered as she took the flowers that came out of her wand.

'It's settled then? One bad comment i will use Quietus or better yet, eat slugs' she thought to herslef. She kept the flowers near a tree and walked throught the lake, some part of her robe had been wet cause she had stepped over the water. "Well i don't about the three of you but i surely would enjoy a dose of spell training" she said as she turned to the three and faced back at the lake and took another step.

After a while, Xy took a deep breath, the water calmed her down. Xy was looking straightly at the lake, with her wand at her right hand. Xy felt some tentacles wrap over her feet, it slowly grabbed her. Xy fell down, "Ouch!" she shouted as she screamed. She couldn't focus since the water kept her mouth shut. Xy looked down at a water it was obviously a squid, the Giant Squid that everyone warned about but her question is, what is a Squid doing near the surface?. Xy took pointed her wand at the tentacle quickly and remembered a third year spell she used to use. "Arania Exumai!" she shouted and the Squid had let her go.

Xyris came back to the surface, placing her wand at her back. "Gah! I hate that Squid! Too bad there isn't any drying spell." she mumbled.
