It’s time!
….No not to start classes something very important must happen before we’re able to do that! We MUST, MUST, MUST and I cannot stress MUST enough, up the ante! I hate to say it but our role playing is a bit weak and terribly unequal, I can’t have someone post 200 words and get a response of 62 words, it makes us look bad a unappealing to other future players, like we don’t have any structure or organization.
So first order of business is to up the minimum word count to 150 I’m, believe it or not, starting you off easy I’ve been on sites where the minimum word count was 550, and up. I think you can handle this; the average person will type/write 30,000 words a year so it won’t be hard to come up with 150 words in this post I’m already up to 150, actually that was exactly 150, and no I didn’t plan that! Furthermore any post I see that does not meet requirements will be deleted..not the person the post. Just keep in mind it makes us look professional and mature.
Speaking of I have some Role Playing tips I think that will help us ALL, myself included.
1. Remember that you can only control your character (not those of others), unless you have the other person's permission. People are apt to be annoyed if you control their characters without warning.
So, instead of saying: Jesse smiled at Jake, and he smiled back and put his arm around her.
You could say: Jesse smiled at Jake and moved closer hoping he might give her a smile in return.
And look there! We used three more words in the second one, see what happens!
2. Add the important things, what your character is thinking, if they’re looking forward to something, if they have other thoughts not spoken about the character they’re talking to etc. There is a huge variety of things you can include!
3. Anything your character says will be in “these little guys” Anything they act or think will not be in quotation marks just regular text if you would like to add ‘these’ when your character is thinking you may do so. With that being said when a character is performing an action I’ve see *this* and –This-
A proper role-playing paragraph with those things included should look like so:
Jesse, was unable to speak stunned and shocked she returned to her home. Her thoughts were a tangled mess in her head all trying to break free in a verbal form, however, she refused to let any of them escape her head. ‘I hope no one is home, that would ruin my good day’ her thoughts went on as sarcastic and crude as ever. When she arrived at the small house she found that her wish wouldn’t come true today. She could easily see Jake’s badly parked SUV from miles away; she sighed and walked into the house shoving the red rickety door out of her way “What are you doing here” She screeched into the hallway, where she was certain it would meet Jake’s ears.
See, from Jesse’s thought and action’s we can easily pick up that our character Jesse is angry and she didn’t have to tell us that. These are things a good Role play should include.
Basic roleplaying keywords are:
• RP: Roleplay
• OOC: Out of Character (You may also use parenthesis to show that it is you who are speaking, not your character.)
• IC: In Character
• bic: Back in Character
• Powerplaying: Which refers to trying to control other people's characters.
• Godmodding: Changing in game rules or controlling other charters actions or reactions.
• MarySue or GaryStu: Creating a "Perfect character" with little or no weakness, overly dramatic or perfect past, and excellent at everything.
• Literate: A very good roleplayer who shows that they are able to properly use grammar, punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and so forth. A literate roleplayer knows when long introductions are appropriate, understands the place for short one or two sentence posts and keeps in character emotions separate from their own.
• Semi-Lit: A decent roleplayer who has an "OK" grasp of grammar, punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and so forth. A Semi-Lit roleplayer typically writes (sometimes excessively) long introductions several paragraphs in length and posts of up to a paragraph and longer.
• Illiterate: A terrible roleplayer who disregards all grammar, punctuation, capitalization, etc. Their spelling is usually equal to chatspeak. An illiterate roleplayer typically writes one paragraph for their intro, and around one or two sentences per post.
Next order of business:
We will have…POSTING ORDER!!!
If you don’t know what that is you’re in luck!
Posting order is also known as common courtesy, not really but in this case it very well may be, if one character is offline and you and another person post and post and post and post without her she’s got to try and include ALL of what you said in her ONE post! Which is very difficult and it looks kind of odd. Posting order is just what it sounds like, it goes in order:
Jesse’s Post
Jake’s Post
Julian’s Post
Jake’s post
NO, NO, NO the above was wrong Jake should not have posted, it was Jesse’s turn, now how to do you think she feels?
Jesse
Jake
Julian
Jesse
Jake
Julian
YAYYY! Everyone is happy!
I know that may mean waiting for someone to come online but that is why we have more that one character (Up to three as long as you can maintain them all) and….
LIQUID TIME!! Yes, your character can now be in the maximum of FIVE places at once, there’s a real treat, so if you’re the good little RPer which I know you will be and you’re waiting for someone to post since we’re in POSTING ORDER all one has to do is slip to another post and post then someone doesn’t have to desperately wait in posting order for you!
Spellcheck and READ OVER! These two tasks should always, always, always be done before you even think about pressing post. NO ONE, NO ONE wants to read a post that looks like this:
Jesse cudnt brethe and her eyes were bloody “your not supoused to be her” her face was sad, she look every sad, and no one wuld help he
Ouch, hurt your head? Because it definitely hurt mine!
Another issue I feel I must address is the ages; I know we have at least two players under aged. This is not good; I’m not going to delete our accounts because I really do not want to have to do that, I don’t want to be a bad guy. But I also do not want our site to be deleted I’ve worked very hard on making it good. This means you two will have to work EXTRA hard to abide by these rule so we’ll be able to slide under the bar until you’ve reached 13 which I TRUST is coming up soon!
Classes will be starting as SOON as I see compliance of ALL these rules! Yes all of them, I can tell if you’re making and effort in trying to make this place look better.
I also am going to be asking a person from Furry-Paws to make a brand new professional looking skin! To attract people I have 10 Million in my fund if you would like to donate, you are in no way required to donate but every bit will help us out.
Lastly I want EVERYONE to post here saying:
I ______________, have read these rules and regulations as well as the ones already in play and I promise to uphold and abide by these, and kindly remind our friends if they accidentally break one to make this site the best it can be.
Thank you!
Love, love, love, Lilly
