The school year hadn't started yet, apparantly, but Oli Carp was already ready for it. In fact, he was already feeling bored of being ready for it. He was looking forward to this year. All the creatures and the lessons he had in mind would make for some very interesting times indeed...
But, for now, because school wasn't open, the muggle-born wizard was sat at one of the tables in the Three Broomsticks, one leg crossed over the other, and playing muggle solitaire on the table top, with a pint glass set to one side, the icy frost creeping up the glass magically. The door opened, and he glanced up instantly...But generally, he did that everytime. What could he say...he was bored, and wanted company.

'Just another day working at the Three Broomsticks' Scarlett had seen the customers come and go but a Professor from Hogwarts had been sitting in the same chair for a while, looking rather bored of his muggle game, she'd been watching trying to understand what the cards had to do with it. She glanced around to make sure everyone was satisfied before she ventured over for a conversation.
She made her way over to the table, a messy blond braid slung over one shoulder, and a cloth for cleaning tables on the other. "Care to show me how this game works, I haven't quite got it figured out." She smiled, and pulled out the chair adjacent to his. Determined to start conversation, since the shop wasn't at it's busiest she spoke again " You teach Care of Magical Creatures up at Hogwarts, yes?" She paused, too impatient to wait for an answer. "What's that like?"

Oli looked up quickly at the first sign that someone was actually approaching. The first thought that went through his head had to be finally, but he didn't say that out loud, because that would be rude. Although...well, he wasn't the most polite person in the world, even he would admit that.
"Alright luv?" he said with a nod, and a small grin, the thingyney accent evident in his tones, "Oh, yes, feel free to pull up a seat. This? Tis a muggle game. Gotta reorder the deck by rank and suit, see?" He waved a hand over the arrangement on the table top. He wasn't the best solitaire player, either, if he thought about it...But the corresponing red then black arrangments were rather pretty.
He nodded once, before shrugging. "Wasn't bad last year. But this year hasn't started yet, so can't really say anything bout it. Besides...no doubt your ay is more interesting. What with having the bar an' drinks an' all."

Scarlett, moved around in her chair until she was finally comfortable, she nodded watching him rearrange his deck as he said. Then she listened to the answer to her question. “My day can’t possibly be more interesting, the closest we come to a magical creature is the old man who stumbles in drunk every evenin’” She gave a short laugh “I also don’t get much contact which kids, love kids you know, I love talking to ‘em when they come in ‘ere”
She took a short glance at the table where to Professor was sitting “You need anything else to drink?” She questioned “I can run and grab it while you reorder your cards in you’d like.”

Oli quirked his lips into a grin, sprawling back into his chair. Company was always a good thing. Usually, Oliver Carp wasn't a social creature. Or, he was, but not with humans. But for all the marvels that magical creatures possessed, he hadn't yet found one which was capable of creating a interesting conversation.
"Kids? God, no, they wind me up. I work for the creatures, you know. The older students...well, they're not so bad. Nor arre the first years. The ones in-between are just irritating though. Give me a dragon to handle any day of the week." It was one of his failings as a teacher, really, the not much liking kids part. But no matter. He was still quite popular...though, that was perhaps why it was only amongst the older years.
"Well, I won't say no, love," he said, his grin deepening, before sweeping his hand over the table top to gather the cards, flicking his wand at them to make them dance in the air, reordering themselves, "I was losing anway."

Scarlett stood up ready to stick with her offer of getting another drink, she stood at an angle with all her weight shifted to the left side. She pressed her palms against the wooden table for extra support.
“Oh, I’d kill to be a professor up there, I’m just not qualified. Since I’ve never been workin’ with kids I suppose I can’t form a true opinion of teachin’ ‘em, though I’d love the experience.” She chuckled lightly “Nope, my place, always been here, working in ‘is ‘ere bar, it’s nice some of the time.”
She pressed her hands up so she could stand fully, and nodded walking towards the back of the building to get the Professor another drink, she filled the icy much to the top watching the foam settle, and walked briskly back toward the table. “As promised, drink number two.” She smiled and pulled her chair out again, it made an awful noise as it scraped across the floor. “Now, ‘ow’s this Muggle game o’ yours played?”

"I only trained because of the animals. Working abroad with dragons was something I was gonna do, but couldn't just up and leave my girlfriend all alone. Would have been harsh." Not as harsh as when she'd ran off with his cousin. That was rather like one of those programs that muggles liked to watch. The ones with the annoying themetunes. Gel. Or Soap. Soaps? Whatever.
"Ta luv," Oli said as cam back with his drink, grinning up at her, reaching out to take it, "Much 'ppreciated." He took a long drink of it, njoying the feeling of it as he swallowed, before looking over the top of the glass, towards her. "Rightio. Gotta warn you though love, it's a game of patience. Isn't exactly the most fun around."
He flicked his wand again to sort the cards, lying them out in row after row, in a diagonal line over the table top.

Scarlett listened patiently, she was used to listening it was generally a part of her job, all sorts of folks would wander into The Three Broomsticks complaining about this and that, and the newest scandal running amuck in the Daily Prophet. “Well, I understand that well enough, animals are true beauties on their own, and I’m sure they’d be fun to work with, though I’ve never actually seen a dragon, I’d enjoy doin’ that before I die.” She chuckled and, put her elbow on the table supporting her head with the palm of her hand. “A game of patience, huh? I think I can handle that” She watched the cards fly into their places, Scarlett had never done much with cards at all, she never really had much time left over to play games, it was nice to catch a break every once in a while.
